Oil change on Carrera S's and a Brake Fluid Flush
So I hit 2000 miles today on my 2009 997.2 S and decided to change the oil, my buddie Dave came over in his 2005 997.1S for his pre DE oil change & a brake fluid flush w/ Motul.
Step one, put it up on the lift.
8mm Hex to drain.
36mm socket removed the oilfilter cap. Thought the oil fill tube was wicket cool

Thanks - where did you get the oil fill tube. Looks very useful on awkward to get at oil filler inlets.
What was the exact quantity of oil used on both cars? I assume both cars had the oil and filter change.

1st drew out as much old fluid as we could w/ a 12 cc syringe
Next fill brake fluid reservoir w/ fresh Motul & we used a pressure bleeder, pressurized up to 7.5
Then starting from passenger rear open bleeder screws w/ 11mm closed end wrench & a drain tube. Each caliper had 2 bleeder valves. I am used to BMW's and just 1.
Great idea, but what a weird location for an oilfilter

Also, 997.2 has engine top side filter so no mess. (Drain oil before replacement)
Filter housings are different. 997.2 has 36mm nut molded into it.
997.1 does not have this, and is mounted underside of engine.
997.1 9 qts Mobile 1 0-w40
997.2 8 qts Mobile 1 0-w40
Oil cost $6.29/qt
Filter w/o-ring ~ $15 from Suncoast
plus new drain plug washer (compression aluminum)
Also of note, 997.2 must check oil level with car running and warmed up.
997.1 car must have sat cold for some period of time.

Damn I am jealous, I definitely need a friend with a lift.
IMO it's really awesome how Porsche clearly made an effort to make the 997.2 even easier to service than the 997.1 , most manufacturers don't prioritize that.
Also I recently found this :
http://zdmak.com/wbstore/main.asp?ac...D=M0093&CTMP=1
which is the best tool for the 997.1 oil filter (even better than the Porsche branded tool because it's got the extra screw-in bolts to remove stubborn housings) and only $15 .
