Default Question from new C2S owner...

Well, I did it, traded in my Cayman for a C2S. It's dynamite!
I test drove a C2 first, then a C4S, and then finally my C2S -- Bingo!-- that was the one!
I bought a left-over new 2009 launch car with only 40 miles on the speedometer.
2009 C2S pdk, porsche racing green/sand interior. I have 300 miles on it now.

Btw, I love the green (even though it's unpopular)...maybe my second favorite color-- after white-- and the car was at a great price and was optioned almost exactly as I would have wanted if I'd ordered it, almost uncanny --pdk, sprts chrono, bose, bluetooth, xm, electric standard seats, auto dimming (except no NAV or xenon, and I wouldn't have ordered them either)

My questions are related to this car having sat at the dealer for a year and a half.
It has the original battery. They installed and used a battery maintainer, and it seems fine--recharges pretty quickly on my CTEK too.
They also did the pdk computer updates.
Should I get a very early oil change, say, at 3000 miles?
Should I assume that there is bad gas and use Techron fuel injector cleaner early on?
Anything else?

I'd change the oil...I'd have worked in a free oil change into the deal of the car and not base it off of mileage but off of time. You can put 1 mile on oil but after it sits int eh car for a year the oil needs to be changed.

If you dealer will not do a free oil/filter change then seek out a indy Porsche shop and have them do it.
You car take a Cayenne S oil filter BTW and Mobil 1 has a rebate on oil....you will need 8 quarts of 0w40.

But it has the break-in oil, so I thought maybe I should do at 2000 miles, after the break-in period.

There is no such thing as break in oil in these cars today. The car is filled at the factory with Mobil 1 0w40. The car basicially sat for a year...change the oil.

Your car actually has Xenon Headlights, just not the Dynamic Cornering Lights.

+ 1 on changing the oil.

22% off MSRP
There's a number of similar launch cars in this color, so pics are easy to find, but I'll take some.
Here in the midwest there are very few new 2009 or 2010 911's on dealers lots--I checked inventory for lots of dealers. However, there is a "second wave" of 2010 911's arriving over the next 2-4 weeks.

I thought about sitting tight and watching the 2009 launch car, thinking that if it didn't sell, I might get even a better price in a few months from now. But I decided not to be greedy, this is practically the car I would have ordered, so buy it and don't be an idiot.

That battery needs to be watched. We had a Carrera 4 here for nearly a year that they couldn't GIVE away and they ultimately had to put a new battery in it. With yours sitting around it wasn't getting enough charge back into it to offset the sitting around.

I wouldn't really sweat the oil. As you now know, there is no such thing as 'break in' oil but with synthetics, nothing's going to happen to it sitting around. (Since when does oil go bad from sitting?) (I know gas does that, however!)

The cleaner isn't really necessary until you get up to around 25-30,000 miles. Good luck with that 'theft proof' green!

I would consider changing the brake fluid also. Porsche recommends changing it every two years (more often if you track the car). Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning that it will absorb water even is a closed/sealed system.

The oil just sitting with get contaminates in it also moisture too since it was never really heated up to burn them off. Synth oil or not change it every year.

It's amazing what you worry about when spending this much for a car.
Never even gave a thought about my 2006 Dodge Charger R/T-- I put on 90K miles on it, just oil changes, no repairs, even original brakes, in-and-out quick oil changes only--LOL

Hockeyguy,

i bought the same car..... Same color, same discount but with 500+ miles on it. I got the birth certificate for the car several weeks later and it had been on the lot for many months before I got it.
I took possession in Sept of 09 and drive it until November and put it away with 2000 miles on it for the winter... I negotiated the first oil change into the deal and will probably get it done before I put the car away this coming fall...
I have a set of drive on ramps that lift the car about 22" off the ground and will be doing the oil changes myself after the first dealer service...
I didn't know that Porsche Racing Green was an unpopular color?????
I thought the beige interior was great in the beginning but I've got to get some black into the cockpit area to break up and that warm color.
I ordered some black plush floormats today and may try to replace the carpeting on the lower part of the doors to match the black plastic of the dash.... Or maybe not!!!!!!!

Someone suggested the mats and I loved the idea... I took a pair of black plastic mats out of my F150 and washed them with tire cleaner and installed them in the car... What a difference... Can't wait for the mats to arrive...

I love the green exterior

+1 on the English Racing Green

Pics please!

Really, is there a bad color for a Porsche?
