It wears quick too. In my 997.1 it had it on the gear **** and it was wearing quickly.
Makes a great headliner as someone said.

I LOVE my Alcantara! The guy who ordered it, get Alcantara inserts for the seats, they're black (dark grey). Grips great, and feels great. I also got the alcantara steering wheels, gear shift and hand brake... all together look and feel AWESOME!

Actually, I would like to change my answer and apologize to everyone I've offended.
Alcantara is totally not the **** rug of the car world

Alcantara is actually the velvet suit of the car world
It feels great, but to everyone else...not so much.
(see below for proof)

(sorry, I'm pulling your leg) <3

I got $5 that the next time you hop in your car, you mentally compare the feel of the Alcantara to velvet.

i agree that on wear parts like a wheel or shifter, i've seen it start to look old.

36mi into our mercedes on the seats, replete with spilled juice boxes, it looks fine.

Leather is my preference. Looks great!

I dislike the look and feel of Alcantara and I had the opposite problem to the OP's -- I couldn't order all leather in a GT3 without also getting a boat load of additional unwanted Alcantara, so I skipped it. At least I managed to get a leather covered steering wheel instead of the default Alcantara.

I guess I just don't understand the appeal of Alcantara...

Had Alcantara in my 01S4. Began to look ratty after awhile. Much happier with my ventilated leather.

I love Alcantra and would also like to see cloth interior options. IMO leather isn't the best choice for performance car seats. Slippery, hot in Summer, cold in Winter it's only virtues are appearance and wear IMO. But the cloth I've seen in many European cars looks fantastic and wears just as well as leather.
