Default Wheel color question

I've seen where often people want to powdercoat wheels to make a silver wheel colored.
Can the opposite be done?
I found a wheel that comes painted in colors, but I want it silver. It does not come in silver in the size I want.
Question: Anybody ever unpainted a wheel? Sandblasted? Paint it silver? Forget it and choose another wheel?
Thanks.

No need to powdercoat most wheels, and many manufacturers will tell you never to powdercoat.

Paint is pretty straightforward, and many factory (oem) finishes are painted.

Just to be clear:
O.Z. Alleggerita HLT 18 inch comes in every color EXCEPT silver.
O.Z. Alleggerita HLT is in silver in 19 inch.
I want silver.
I want 18 inch, not 19 inch.
Any way to convert a 18" colored wheel into a 18" silver wheel?

paint will work - it's hardy.

i'd also reach out to OZ - see what they can do for you.

You get specialists who have done such painting before. My wheels were painted the dark metalic grey of a BMW roadster by an outfit in Surrey, BC. Look for a good place that has a reputation... you can ask the local high end shops and dealers who they use. Key to the paint job, is they wait until the paint is dry and has set up for a few days before trying to attach the balance weights to the painted surface (on the inside of course)... else the off-gassing will just cause you to loose some balance weights again. The wheels are probably sand blasted clean, primed and them painted and coated as need for the type of paint/look. If done right, there is no problem with paint.
