*NOTES*

Fastest Feeling to Slowest:

Hacked sides+Fabspeed X pipe
Oem Sides+Fabspeed X pipe
OEM Everything
OEM center+Side Bypass
Center Bypass+Side Bypass

Sound:

Hacked sides+Fabspeed X pipe --- very Euro sounding, higher pitch, little gurgle on downshifts and coasting
Oem Sides+Fabspeed X pipe --- PSE sounding, pitch deep, little gurgle on downshift and coasting
OEM Everything --- you know
OEM center+Side Bypass --- sounds like a tractor, very low tone that goes thru entire car, tons of gurgle and pop's on downshifts
Center Bypass+Side Bypass --- sounds like a race car, tons of gurgles and pops, pops on shifting.

When you say "Fastest Feeling to Slowest", what does that mean? Actual "seat of the pants" vehicle performance or sound?

Thanks. I have a ’09 997.2 C2S and am interested in make some exhaust modification. In general, I think it’s a wee-bit too quite in the car (although my wife likes in comparison to my last track car). Hence, your experiments are of great interest. In general, which combination had the best feel and sound for a rather loud daily driver? (i.e.: not quite an open GT3 RSR, but enough to hear).

chrcook, like Riley I have messed around and either owned or heard in person most of the exhausts for our cars. If you like a sweet Euro sound with zero drone at a highway cruise you should look into either Tubi or Cargraphic. If you like a puffy deeper sound check out AWE and Fabspeed.

A super cheap route and fun is to Gindo Hack the stock mufflers. Do a search on this forum and you can find a picture of the 2" tube welded between the in and outlet pipes on the muffler.

I got a quote today to do a hack for $1200 if they do everything and $900 just for the welding if I remove the sides myself. Same quote from two different places. Sounds a little steep. What is a reasonable price for this work?
Also, I was warned that Fabspeed X pipe might bring out the engine warning light because of cats delete. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance

Stan

JEEEZ, run from them as fast as you can, shouldnt be more than 150$..

remember its a VERY simple job.. take them off yourself and go to the cheapest place in town.. as long as they can weld and they have 2" stainless pipe your good to go.. just need a piece of 2" pipe between the in and the out.. 150$ max... do you guys have like a "meineke" muffler shop up in canada?

the center X pipe on 997.2 does not remove or interupt any sensors to pop a code, so no lights ever come on... on the 997.1 the center pipes bypassed the cat's and thats why codes would pop up.

feel free to email me if any additional questions: rijowysock@gmail.com sounds like the people up there dont know what they are talking about..

only thing i would reccomend against is doing anything to the cats or headers... only modify after the cats as messing with cats can pop CEL's and void parts of warranty.. PCNA said after the cats=no problems from them on warranty claims.
