Default Adding Navigation to PCM 2.1

I have an '06 c2s and have the upgraded bose sound system. Want to add Navigation, Bluetooth, and ipod. I understand an aftermarket unit would do all this, but a part fo me wants to keep the OEM look.

I see Dension, Nav-tv/tookie, will take care of the bluetooth and ipod, but I can't find any aftermarket Nav module which will work with the PCM 2.1. Can you order just the DVD Nav module from porsche? How much, anyone know?

I think you can order the nav module for 2K-ish in price. In the end, I just mounted my iphone and use that for a nav.

Ok - I guess that's out of the question now... Almost $3k for Nav hmmm, guess I'm back to printing out maps from mapquest.

Money might be better spent on a set of nice wheels.

put in a new head unit that replaces all of that stuff if you want it to all work together. find a high end installer and they can do it easily. i get the desire to have OEM - i'm the same way.

i put nav-tv tooki into my 997 and it took a ton of work to get it to work right. it's probably great now, that was 2 years ago, but i had to buy a basic non-smart phone and have a second phone number to make it work.

i'm putting a new head unit in my wife's MB (2006) and it looks great, has better nav than OEM, and bluetooth, ipod integration, live traffice, etc. and it's less cost than the inferior OEM product.

Thanks - I think that's what I might end up doing.

IMHO it ruins image of the car and lowers you possible resale value. But to each his own.

suncoastporsche.com sells those NAV upgrade kits - $2.3K. If you are crafty you can install it yourself. It is not very complicated. Dealer will install it for $400 or so.

Bluetooth and iPod - look at mobridge, dension. $700 or so more. I run mobridge and I like it.

Head unit like Pioneer is possible to install too but you will loose integration with your car and your 997 will look like a ricer`s honda civic. I would not do it to my car.

Garmin has nav devices that do bluetooth - you can grab one for under $200 if you look around. I've had NAV in both my recent 911's ('07 & '08), I thought it was pretty crappy when compared with my Garmin 276.

My built-in Nav's map looks like it was implemented in MS Paint.
IMHO, go for 3rd party, or just buy the TomTom GPS app for your iPhone and use that.

Just a word of caution: before you buy, check the compatibility of your 'phone with the Garmin...and not just the list on their website, which is rarely updated. Make sure you can return the GPS if your 'phone isn't compatible. I got a Nuvi 770, which not only has Bluetooth, it also has an FM transmitter. It sat nicely on the open ashtray, leaning against the lid, with the power cord going into the recepticle in the console through the space between the armrest and the console. Looked great, worked great. Put my MP3's on an SD card and the Garmin played those through the stereo too. All was wonderful...until I got a new 'phone. It will not pair with the Garmin. Garmin's tech support is a joke, and they basically told me I'm SOL. I tried a few fixes mentioned in tech forums, none works with my 'phone. So until I get another 'phone (which I'll take my Garmin to the store to check if its compatible) I'm using a $50 Blue-Ant ST3 that clips to the visor. Garmin still works fine for playing the MP3's though.

Thought I would post an update - I've decided to go with tookie/NAV-tv for bluetooth and ipod integration with the OEM HU.

The install will take place this week. As for NAV - I'll just use my BB or iphone when I need it.

Thanks for all the input guys!
