Default Just installed Dension and have serious engine whine...solutions?

So I just got the Dension installed in my 996 Turbo thanks to the 3 hour read, 600 post Dension thread here on the 997 forum so I'd figure this was the place to ask for some advice.

I have two items connected to the Dension unit.....an ipod and an aux-in. The ipod sounds PHENOMENAL!!!! However, the aux-in in (my sat radio) has horrible engine whine that coordinates with the RPM. What a PITA!!!!!

So, two questions......
1. How do I get rid of it
2. I assume it has something to do with the RCA cable since it is only the aux-in?

Both the ipod cable and the rca cables follow the exact same route from the front boot to the cabin.

TIA!!!!

Almost certainly this is a ground loop problem. Easily fixed by sticking a ground loop isolator inline on the audio cable connection between the satellite radio device and the aux input.

Something like this or this. Available a zillion places online or locally from radio shack, best buy, autozone, etc... should be easy to find.

The iPod isn't affected because it doesn't have its own, independent power connection (and thus isn't creating a ground loop). The problem stems from the fact that both the denison and the satellite radio device have their own power/ground connections.

Ah, that makes sense since the sat radio is plugged in through the cig lighter.

I'll try your suggestions and post back (as well as in my install thread when I get it finished).

Thanks so much!

Crap, I just got back from Radio Shack and they only had one set. I didn't even think to check them but when I got home I realized they it wouldn't work. Both ends are male. ARGH!!!!! I need one male and one female. Off to Best Buy tomorrow and if I strike out there, then mail order time.

Rant over

So I went to Best Buy and they don't have them and haven't for several weeks and don't know when they will get them in again. Nice.

Then I stop by a pretty sweet looking custom car stereo install store. I walk in the guy says "hey buddy, how's it going?".....to which I respond that I doing great and I'm looking for a ground loop isolator. This ignorant car stereo sales guy says, "I have no idea what that is". ARE YOU F'IN KIDDING ME?!?!?!?

I promptly left.

Time for mail order. GEEZUZ!!!!!
