Default Cobweb in taillight...

ok...so there's a dead spider and a cobweb in my left taillight. Can it be cleaned out? Is this covered under the warranty?

Does anyone give a damn?

Thanks,

Jason

Jake,

Answers to your questions:
Not sure.
Probably not!
Not really!

Just kidding about the last one. I have never tried this but you may be able to clean it out if you remove the tail light and see if you can remove a couple of the sockets. I don't know if the sockets are "sealed" or not. That "may" give you access to the inside of the lense.

If you are able to remove the sockets and clean it out, pics of the process would be nice.

Sure. Pull the taillight, pull the bulbs, tape off all but one bulb mount hole and set your vaccum cleaner on the open one. The suction should get rid of it without an issue.

You're screwed.

Not covered under warranty .

Car is a total loss.

Sorry.

I was also going to ask about the dust on the dashboard, but my wife said I only need to wipe it off...

This is what happens when a car sits in a garage for 4 months.

I've got an idea. We'll swap your engine and my blown engine. Then when PCNA replaces your car for the DSITL defect then I'll get my engine fixed and you'll have a new car

Here are some helpful tail light removal/installation instructions.

Ok, I took some pix, too but need to post them.

Basically, you loosen the two outer screws (using a Torq or something like that) and gently slide the light out. It slides out horizontally and easily. I couldn't figure out how to separate the light harness at the junction, so instead removed each of the lights.

Next, I took a can of dustoff and blew out the cobwebs (wish this could be done with some of my coworkers). The bulbs all have notches that prevent you from screwing the wrong ones back in.

Finally, you slide the assembly back into place. The assembly is held at 3 points, one in the pointy corner area closest to the front of the car, and the other two that were already loosened. Be sure to align the assembly while you tighten, it wants to sit lower than it is supposed to...

If only it was this easy to install springs and struts.

I've had this problem before... except it was a dead bug. I wasn't able to shake it out so I had to stick the light in the oven and take it apart and clean it.

Youre under warranty so I think the dealer should be able to take care of this for you (it should be sealed and not allow bugs in)
