Groovy. Thanks and just what I am looking for. I almost jumped over into a 993 to get more drama but this sounds like a great fix.

A 993 with fister stage 3's is way more drama. i have both a 997 and 993 with the hack and the 993 sounds way nastier. Asked Darrin about a more aggressive hack for a 997 but not a big enough market for it i believe. The 997 hack sounds great but doesnt have quite the growl I would love to have.

The 993 fisters are deeper, louder and really aggressive. Would love that sound on a 997

Hmmm... That being said, for the moment, the $200 Gundo-exhaustotomy-anastomosis beats my eventual 993 purchase cost.

Does anyone have any references in Chicago area to get this done? About how long does this job take. I think this is exactly what I would like to hear everyday.

Any good muffler shop should be able to do this. I had my 996 mufflers done with the PSE MK II mod and the owner of the muffler shop quoted me $80 (I removed/installed the mufflers). When he called to tell me they were ready, he said "How about $60 in cash, no invoice? I can use that money for pizza for the guys." I said "Done!"

Just make sure that the guy that does the job knows how to weld.
I've seen some pretty sketchy examples. (As well as a few nice ones like Gundo's reference)

hi,
i'm planning to have the gundo hack on my 997 Carrera 4S.
I read all over in order to make the best decision, 1" versus 2".....
well, i think i will go for the medium ground.... 1.5"...any suggestion?
many thanks
Paolo

Hi Paolo

Unfortunately all the reading in the world won't help much.
Your own ears need to hear each variant for you to make a decision that you'll be happy with.
Obviously as you go larger in diameter, the louder and more like an open pipe the car will sound.

Louie,

This s very simple.

Go to post # 11 in this thread and download the two pics. Print them out and take the pics to your Midas muffler shop and ask to see the best welder/fabricator they have in the shop. Tell him you want this (show him the pics) done to your mufflers. If he can't figure it out right away, go to a different shop.

Repeat as needed.
