I need to remove the front turn signals and the front headlights from a 997.2 and need some help.
I've searched the forums and can't find anything on this.
I've also looked in the owners manual and can't find anything.
Can someone help.
Thanks

Hi,
The headlamp removal should start on page 272 of your owner's manual if it's an '09.
On my 997.1, they provide a credit card-sized piece of plastic that you insert on the side of the marker to dislodge the turn signal assembly from the bumper. There doesn't seem to be anything in the 997.2 owner's manual about it, but have a look in the portfolio your manual came in for one of those plastic cards.
EDIT: I just took another look at the 997.2 manual, here's what it says about your turn signal assembly:
Good luck.

Front Side Lights, Front Turn
Signal Lights, Daytime Driving
Lights, Tail Lights and Additional
Brake Light
These lights are equipped with light-emitting
diodes and cannot be replaced individually.
Replacement also involves a greater amount of
installation work.
Have the defective light replaced in a qualified
specialist workshop.
We recommend a Porsche partner for this
work as they have trained workshop personnel
and the necessary parts and tools.

Thanks,
I got the headlights out but I'm still struggling with removing the front turn signal lamps.
I don't seem to have the credit card you mentioned but I tried a regular smooth credit card and this didn't work. I guess I don't know where to insert it and whether it disconnects a clip or how it is supposed to work.
Does the card from the factory have a diagram on it or instructions?
The dealer told me that I can take the bumper cover off, disconnect the lights from behind and then take them out.
I am taking the front bumper cover off anyway but this just doesn't make sense to me. I mean it's hard to believe that you have to remove the front bumper just to change out the front turn signal lamps.
If anyone can help further I'll sure appreciate it.
Thanks,
Griswald

The plastic card that number9ine is referring is for 997.1 cars. And it does have a diagram on it.
Its provided to get access to the fog/turn signal assembly on the .1 cars.
As you have a 997.2 the card its not provided nor will it work as that DRL assembly appears to be a sealed unit. I guess they aren't meant to be readily removable as they have a long life.
You just might have to take the bumper off to get to them. You might be i over your head unless you know how to take it apart properly.
Just curious, why do you need to do such a thing?

Thanks for clearing that up for me sharmat.
I don't need to take the lights apart - just take them off as I'm changing bumper covers.
I have everything else loose so I guess the dealer was right and I go ahead and pull the bumper cover and disconnect them from behind.
Taking the bumper cover off is really no big deal except I was confused after hearing about he 'card' thing.
Thanks Again

hey guys, i also need to remove these turn signals. i need to get access to the washers for the headlights to paint these darn things. Griswald, when you removed the bumper did you discover how the turn signals could be removed without actually removing the bumper. im sure if you saw the back side of your bumper cover and you would know if there are screws or clips or tabs...please share.

I don't own a 997.1 or 997.2 but you could try removing one of the headlights to see if that will give you access to the washer. The manual shows the steps needed to remove the headlights.
