Coming out of the garage...
I don't know if anyone else has noticed but I see more and more Porsches on the road. I see older and newer cars.
My hunch is that people who had Porsches as 2nd or 3rd cars in their garages are selling them at lower prices for economic reasons, and used cars like the 996 and 997 are becoming increasingly more affordable to the middle class.
But maybe this is just a SoCal phenomenon. I saw 5 of them on my 25-mile commute to work yesterday morning. I usually see one or two...

When her SUV's lease came up, my wife took over my E-class (not a lease) and I started driving the 997 daily. It's saving us the cost of leasing/buying a 3rd vehicle, and the Porsche is going to depreciate about the same if I'm enjoying driving it every day than leaving it to rot in the garage M-F. Maybe that's what some other people have done too.

Keep in mind that Porsche is selling close to 100,000 cars a year now. That's a shocking number of cars compared to when I got started with Porsche in the early 1970s when they made a few thousand. As a result, you're bound to see them all over the place--even in Iowa! Back in the 1970s I could cross half the country on an interstate before seeing another 911.

I live in Minnesota and in the summer will see one to two P-Cars a week.
Last summer took a drive to Las Vegas and saw only one P-Car and that was in Aspen. None in LV.
I remember seeing more in the previous years.

This past weekend was warm(upper 50's) and sunny in Massachusetts. I saw a mix of about eight 911's & Boxters some with tops down in my town. People were definitely taking advantage of the nice weather, by Mass standards. Of course in Newport Beach, where I used to live, people wouldn't leave their houses if it was that cold.

I think the break in the weather here has brought a few more out, but mainly last years large "dump" of '09s into the market seems to have done the trick - shook loose a lot of cars. I saw a 996 and 993 a few cars apart a few days ago and then later in the day a 997.2. 3 in a day around here is not typical.

must be good cars if everyone wants to buy one...i know a lot of people who can afford one but would rather buy a benz becuase they claim it isnt reliable...so im taking that porsches rep is getting better?either way i coudlnt careless if theres a lot of them or not...you can always personalize it by slapping on some rims or getting a custom paint job then youll be the only porsche that looks that way...but i know how it feels- i own an exige S and sometimes only sometimes get annoyed when i see another one on the road especially since i hardly drive it
