Default CD Player Not Forwarding Tracks--PCM Issue?

Just curious if anyone has had a similar issue
with their CD player.

Directly after starting the car, while a CD is in, I cannot
forward or reverse the tracks. The player is not recognizing
commands.

I am going to take it into Porsche this week, however, I was
curious if this is a potential PCM issue....

Does it finally start working after a minute or so?

Could be just "boot up" time - or bluetooth phone hunting. I have seen this before, I think - definitely used to happen on my 550i. I could get down the drive and all the way to the stop sign before I could use the system. But for me it was infrequent - maybe never with the 911 - or not often at all.

Still, never hurts to check in with service about it.

This happens to me sometimes as well if I am playing MP3's via CD, regular CDAs don't seem to have this issue.

Have had similar situation from time to time. Toggle between radio and CD mode. This always clears the problem for me when it occurs.

Only happens on home burned CDs from ITUNES not OEM CDs. Also only happens when I turn off the car with the CD playing and then turn it back on again the next day with the CD player still engaged. At that point it will not fwd or back unless I switch to radio then back to CD. This is the in-dash player. I have never put a homemade CD in the changer to test if similar dynamic.....

Thank you all for your replies.

It sounds like this is a common issue; if you can consider it an issue.

I'm going to have Porsche look at it and see what their thoughts
are.

Good idea to take it in. I always feel that if something doesn't seem right, and the car is still under factory warranty, then take it in and have it checked out. Sometimes a little problem is indicative of something more significant. Better safe than sorry. Good luck with it.

To be honest if it required tearing out the PCM for that I wouldn't do it. For me the problem is so intermittent that I am just going to leave it alone.
