Default Dang! Porsche 918 Spyder to be previewed March 2.

It's hot and will age the 987 Boxster Spyder that we are all frothing over at present when/if launched.

OK so they are calling it the Concept Study Porsche 918 Spyder – a high-performance hybrid for the 21st century. But that may just be a ruse to disguise the new (981?) Boxster's face.

I'm just guessing if they built it this thing would be a halo car closer to Carrera GT territory than the Boxster, but you might be right, and parts of the concept may find their way downstream to other models. Anyway it's very cool looking. Maybe the future is brighter than we think.....

WoW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much for Porsche will not be able to meet the EPA B.S.

Not only did they wake up . This car will wake up the competition or just blow past them. So much for Tesla

I won tell the wife but I maybe looking at a future Turbo S Replacement or Garage buddy Anyway.

Better get to work I am sure this wont be cheap

Wow, super cool!

However, this is definitely not the next Boxster. The production version is Carrera GT look alike, and probably price range, and limited quanitity... They could never produce something of this sort at Boxster price level!

I wasn't talking about the drivetrain that would be on the Boxster, there'll be no change from today's drivetrains (DFI) on that score, I was saying the styling could well be the next Boxster, notice speed humps (like the Boxster Spyder), new side intakes and Ferrari looking face. Maybe at last Porsche design is going to give the Boxster some real sex appeal to go with the already rave reviews about it's performance and handling.

Study's presented at shows are not always easy to interpret. In this case I'd be surprised (pleasantly) if Porsche was ready to make a Carrera GT Ver. 2.0. What makes more sense is for Joe Public to get an idea of where Porsche design is going and how it might be applied to a roadster (Porsche Boxster). 911 design? Well that is frozen is it not for the next - forever

if thats the new boxter face ill buy a fleet, that looks amazing..

friend of mine asked me once, if they can design these crazy insane looks that look like a million dollars, why cant they produce a regular car in the same look..

i.e. why do 10k kia's look like 10k pos cars... why cant they design them better?

or why does the boxter look bland and understated.. instead of making it a wild child like the above.

if thats the new look of porsche i would say we are all lucky, we'll all be driving zonda's with flat 6's.lol

Fantastic looking car. But it isn't the next Boxster; production-ready prototypes indicate it is little different from the current car, just as the next 911 is very similar to the current model.

Info in that article is astounding. Faster than a Carrera GT, 78mpg when driven gently. Take that CAFE regs! Wonderful to see Porsche still at the forefront. Very, very impressive at any price.

This would most surely be Porsche's flagship super car. Also, where does the 981 nomenclature come from as the next gen. number series for the Boxsters?

Is this the one with the flywheel that spins at 40k rpm?
