Default First Service @ Napleton

Went to the closest dealer, Napleton in Westmont, IL. So I got a late start this morning and blew off the 10 am appointment. When I arrive an hour late I'm greeted warmly by the service rep. I was there primarily to reset the service due warning which pops up every time I start the car although the in-sevice date was 6/1. Russ the service rep and I sit down and he reviews carefully everything they plan to do to the car: PDK/PCM updates, exhaust leaflets, investigate some annoyances with leather wear and airbag warning. Initially I thought it was a bit tedious but then I thought: maybe this is how they get it right the first time. Based on what I'd read here and experienced myself elsewhere, I wasn't expecting a loaner and thought I'd just wait while they serviced the car. That is until they offered a new Cayman. So I buzz around a few hours enjoying the 6 speed until it's ready. When I return, the car is washed, parked at the service exit, and ready to go. I meet Kerry who seems to be in charge. As we discuss all the issues addressed, I feel like a long time loyal customer who's brought in his tenth porsche rather than his first. Beginner's luck?

No charge. The updates were free. Oil change due in 2500 mi.
We didn't repair the leather. No horn concerns.

I like hearing the "good news" stories, as a tonic to the woe is me variety!

Granted, I bought my Targa from Napleton, but all of my service experiences there have been similar.

I will grant you, they are not cheap (but I don't have a lot of comparative data points), but they do really take care of their service customers, and Kerry is a very good guy.

so basically just clearing the service light + ecu updates?

(the horn function thing was a joke, its the funniest thing on the service check list - basically just another line to add to make it seem like they did something).

btw people advise not to let the dealer wash your car because they usually, for some reason, use towels that leave tons of microscratches.

Yes. With previous black cars I've been off the OCD deep end re swirl marks: hand washed myself conforming to the Zaino regimen. It was nuts and I still got swirls. Now I'm more sane. Bring
my own towels to a hand wash near my house, avoid valet and full contact parking. Periodically I'll outsource the OCD. I've got a guy who comes to the house for a couple days of insane detail. This guy is off his meds meticulous. And no ice cream for the back seat passengers. Having conceded that losing battle I enjoy this car immensely. When the roads are a snowy mess the fun really begins.

I've been going to Napleton for years. They are the best in the Chicago area. The also invented the Cayman Interseries. These guys are very true to the motorsports roots.

I've been using their service department for about 10 years. Consistently professional, courteous and reliable.
