OK, here is one:
what is the linguistic term that describes the terminal sound when "Porsche" is pronounced correctly?
(I am a linguist, not an engineer, so I will have to try to stump all you gearheads with what I know)

I put my X51 headers and PSE on at the same time, so don't know. But I suspect that the headers have no affect, or very little. The best sound improvement, IMO, came from installing the 200 cell cats (with the PSE).
Now back to our regular programming: I'm dying to hear the answer to Fin Fever's question.

IIRC from my ESL classes it's called 'schwa sound'

I added my X51 headers after the fact (factory PSE). They do change the tone of the engine a bit, as a friend of mine calls my car, and "angry car." But think about cleaning up the inside of the tubes--they are done sloppier than the factory 3.8 headers. See my posting from Aug 07

At a local RL meet last year there were many 911's from different years with different exhaust systems and they all sounded different. IMO, the best sounding one was a 997 GT3 with stock exhaust.
