Normally, in the USA, you can only get a Porsche CPO car two ways 1) buy a used car from a Porsche dealer and get the CPO at time of purchase, or 2) buy a CPO car from a private individual. A Porsche CPO warrany transfers from individual to individual, but not from a non-Porsche dealer to an individual.

I have never heard of anyone being able to get a CPO on a car after it was purchased. But, there is always a first time.

My (newly acuired) view is it may still be worth the CPO - apparently Porsche dealers can certify a car that has has minor body work (2 panels) and other repairs. After recent dealings with one AZ dealer owned by Penske i would now do it as it's cheap insurance.

All things being equal is the price of a CPO car the same as a non-CPO car. Does the Dealer have to pay Porsche or anyone else money to CPO a car, or is it a free manufacturer warranty to the consumer?

CPO is normally about $2,500. I believe the dealer cost is about $1,900 + any repairs or replaqcement parts the dealer has to pay for, like tires. But the cost of the CPO and repairs/parts would be reflected in the price.

Please run a search here in the 997 Forum on "CPO" and you'll get dozens of threads with answers to these questions. Lots of details. For example, I've bought a car from a private individual that we then ran through the original selling dealership to get CPO. The dealer was happy to assist and charged the actual cost to CPO plus the $299 documentation fee for handling the transaction. Seller was happy, I was happy, and dealer did a nice thing to make the deal work. Total cost for a 2007 GT3 was something like $1850 CPO + $299 doc fee.
