So I'm guessing you have no use for my 525i wagon as a trade? Boy that 540i6 would be nice! Good luck.

I had a E39 540 6 speed that I picked up in Munich. Awesome car. Sometimes the Porschephiles on this board who turn up their noses to BMW's don't know what they're missing.

How is the auto E39 540. I am not sure a 6 speed would make sense in LA traffic. Anything to look out for on these cars?

The auto is like an auto. The 6 is smooth and connected. Even in traffic I loved mine - and if I was ever to move back to the LA area I would have a manual there too.

The main worry about these cars is the radiator/hose connection which can fracture - but this car has a replacement (better) radiator so this issue has been addressed apparently.

Water pumps too, but you should be fine as long as you stay on top of recommended service with the cooling system. I have almost 120K trouble-free miles on my E39 6spd sport.

To the OP: GLWS.

Knows the car better than I do! Only thing to ever go wrong in my four years of ownership.

Am very serious. No nothing about BMWs. Ask me about Porsches, however!

I hope the websites I attached helped Edgy.

Here is your opportunity to learn with one of the great sedans without an M badge!

Nice looking E39. Good to see the pixels are still intact on your cluster.

They're probably new.

I have an 98 540i E39 auto that is my lazy car.
