BTW every Corvette I ever owned leaked when it rained. Every one.

A problem with the adhesive between the roof panel and the frame could cause them to pull apart, the agency said.

Porsche's are truly hard to beat in any category! Sure there are corvettes, hell even mustangs and nissens that can post the numbers for a hot lap and come up ahead of the comparison porsche but would you truly be happy with any of these cars, they just dont have that put together feeling of performance, handling, braking and quality and especially engineering that the P car has.

Found this while surfing. Very interesting.

Rather than "wondering" about Porsche's rear engine layout, you might want to check if Car and Driver's heads were in their rear ends when they came up with their results. In a slightly less "staged" environment, both the GT3 and 911 Turbo have posted considerably better lap times at Nurburgring than any Corvette:

Best Nurburgring Track Times

7:28 - 166.652 km/h - Porsche Carrera GT
7.39 - 161.575 km/h - Porsche 997 GT3
7:40 - 161.217 km/h - Porsche 997 Turbo
7:42 - 160.519 km/h – Ford GT
7:42.9 - 160.207 km/h - Corvette Z06
7:59 - 154.822 km/h - Corvette C6 Z51, company test driver Dave Hill

You don't think Car and Driver gets more advertising dollars from GM/Chevy than Porsche, now do you??

When C&D writes something really bad like that I just remind myself it's like a magazine for teen age boys debating who would be a better lay: Marylyn Monroe, Pam Anderson or Heidi Klum? Such questions make the magazine fly off the shelf.

if you want a fast car, do not buy a porsche.
based on dollar spent vs lap time, this is one of the worst car you can get.
buy a porsche b/c you want a porsche.

The mainstream car/bike/flying magazines are about entertainment.

And it was Car & Driver that published the first ever comparo piece, featuring a Pontiac GTO against a Ferrari GTO.

Received my C/D yesterday. Read the Lightning Lap story. BFD. I don't really understand why anyone would get their panties in a bunch over this.

I didn't buy the C2S with the intention of it being a track beast looking to eke out the last .001 on my lap times. Would have rather had a GT3 for that purpose.

It's a killer street car and does everything I ask of it.

For the track my S2000 is actually a better tool for the job <ducks>

It all depends on the track. With a lots of long straight sections you want hp and high speed. On a track with lots of tight curves you need hp, great brakes and super handling.

Absolutely agree. Around here the tracks/venues I run don't require sheer hp.

Yeah!

Let's move onto more important aspects of the "Which Is The Better Car?" debates, for example, air bags:

A big part of it, I am sure, is that the test drivers in that test are not too familiar w/ the rear engine dynamic of the 911.. !
