Maybe just some duct tape for now....then give them options for later.

Default Keep it.

I had the same issue as my wife just gave birth to our first 7 weeks ago. Our 2 vehichles: 06 Land Cruiser, 07 C2S. When it came down to it and I was actually looking at sedans of various sorts to replace the 911, my wife actually said "you can't sell that car, you've wanted it for too long, worked to hard for it, etc". I was a little stunned. Then I thought of getting some cheap used sedan as a 3rd car, but financially speaking, it simply made more sense to keep the 911. The Land Cruiser is the baby transport vehicle, and I drive the 911 nearly full time. There are the occasional hospitals where it's sketchy to park, and on those days, I drive the Land Cruiser (the wife-a PA-went part time to no time employment within the past 4-5 months and it will likely stay that way) so it really doesn't cause conflict much.

Hey I agree with all that has been said. I sold my 05 997 in March and have regretted it. I got an e93 m3 in 08 which is my daily driver and can handle the whole family and two kids and whatever duty I need it to for most stuff and still puts a smile on my face but it is not a 997 which did the same duties too for me until this past March. My kids are 8 and 10 and loved riding in the 997 and I will say enjoy the M3 as well so my reason for selling my 997 were a little different in that it wasn't demanded by a new kid but by the fact that I thought I didn't need 2 cars that could do the same thing performance wise/passenger wise. I got a 09 Cayenne which my wife now uses for daily driving and hauling the kids and big ticket items too and I have my e92 and recently got an 09 Boxster but it is not the same.

So keep you 911 is my advice as if you're a p-phile and admirer of the brank like the rest of us you've probably wanted one for a while so I agree get another car for daily driving/hauling duties if you need it (hell I hear Pontiacs and alot of GM cars can be had for a song now) and keep your 911. I wish I had!

Keep it! Tons of great suggestions here, no reason to get rid of it. Destined to become a "bitterman" if you sell it without really wanting to. No one wants to hear the "I gave up my Porsche when you were born...." when they are old enough to understand how special the car was/is.

If you do give up the Porsche, just name the child "Porsche-Killer" and you will never have to mention the quite above ^.

Definitely keep it!
I have 3 kids, (2, 7 and 9) and they love our Porches. In fact the 2 year old is the one that likes them the most. I get home from work and he rushes out to turn the engine on. And he knows how to do it! Better on the 997 that is PDK, but he also manages the manual 993......
The elder ones always ask me to drive them to school.
The rules are the same as everybody else's: No food, drink, or anything sticky.... They respect them, and have their mother's XC90 and the family Denali for littering.....
I made the same mistake of selling because of young kids, and only regretted it. I was miserable to be porscheless, and it only costed me more money when I decided to go back in! So, for the sake of your happiness and a sound financial decision, DON'T SELL IT!

Inspiring stories. We have a 2yo now and working on #2. Currently in a Boxster S and working on 997.2 S as a replacement. Wife is on board as long as "baby seats will fit". I only need the seats for occasional pick ups at the day care 5 miles away.

Buy a trailer for the baby and hook it to the rear of your 911.

Our toddler is big enough for a booster which slots in behind me and our 8 month old is in a rear-facing Chicco without the base and he fits, but my wife sits all the way forward...thankfully she's short. So, we all fit, but barely. Workable for short weekend jaunts, but not as a daily, in my opinion.

Nah, just put the kids in there, I was a bit positive when I thought I could drive them daily with this setup, sadly it kills my back. Will be possible when both are turned face forward and they step in by them selves... Until then. Joy ride

Keep it! If your garage will fit a 3rd car then that's the way to go. One for you, your wife's and the 997. My daily family sedan is an M5, my wife has an X5. The 997 is a 3rd car which will fit the 3 of us on certain trips.

My wife wants to have our first kid. 911 stays. Instead selling two of the three motorcycles. I gave her my X5d too.

Back when I needed more space, I picked up a 2006 Highlander FWD for $6,000. It was great! I didn't sell my fun car, and neither should you. 911s are special, and once your kid is 2 or 3, you will be teaching him how to identify Porsche cars based on the engine location!

I will say that our kids love getting dropped off in the 991 cab! All the other kids are getting dropped off in some ridiculous mom-mobile luxury SUV, and here come our boys in the Porsche, top down, with the PSE and SW muffler delete that can be heard a half mile away. The other kids love it; our boys feel like celebrities at school.

Do you really want to take that away from them, all in the name of convenience or conformity?
