CD Changer in C4S? Audible books?
Does the 6 disc CD/DVD changer take up too much of the room in the the trunk of a C4 or C4S?
I like listening to audiobooks while I drive and I have a 6 disc CD/DVD player in my current car. I have heard that in the C4/C4S the CD/DVD changer mechanism is mounted on the back wall of the trunk -- which is already smaller than on a C2 because of the front differential. Is this true? If so, how much does it cut into the usability of the trunk?
A related question is whether using Audible books on a iPod or iPhone is a satisfactory substitute for CD audiobooks.
Thanks in advance.

The C2 and C4 trunks are the same size UNLESS you opt for the CD player because it is placed along the back wall of the trunk. Personally, I wouldn't give up the space. Can't you simply rehost your audiobooks onto an MP3 format and then play several via the CD player in the cockpit?

You do not mention which year 997 C4(S) you are considering, but on the 2009 (997.2) the 6 disc changer option is built into the head unit, hence it takes up no additional space (except on the Monroney ).
I have not done audio books, but the iPod integration in the 997.2 PCM works very well for music and podcasts for me.

Audible books on Nano / iPhone etc. are great. The device will bookmark your place and return you to that spot when you resume listening. Not sure the burned CD will do the same. I drive maybe 30 to 40K miles per year and couldn't do it without the Audible recordings and all of the terrific free podcasts from NPR.

Changer in the trunk is a royal pain in the butt. I find that I never change the CDs; too much trouble. I'd much prefer to have single CD unit in driver's compartment and choose that day's listening before I leave.

CD s are definitely NOT the way to go with audiobooks - no "bookmark" ability. You would have to FForward to resume your spot after stopping for a break on a long drive.
I use Audible all the time - working out, long drives, planes, etc. iPod is OK except for Apple's dim-witted blue-tooth philosophy.
In the car I use iPod to PCM via Dension so I have control over stop/start/bookmark from the PCM. Otherwise I use Audible Air to my Sony phone and bluetooth.
Besides, you'd need to haul a trailer behind you to carry all the CDs needed to listen to War & Peace.
