Sad day...the car is prepped for winter storage
I washed the car, added fuel stabilizer, filled 'er up, pumped up the ires , plugged in the battery maintainer and put the indoor cover on. Now it is stting my garage.
Now I am thinking I did this too early....... a nice day today. Oh well.
Any of you folks prep your car for a winter hibernation but, in realty, drive it more often than you planned? I would like to drive my 911 more often but they do put a lot salt down in this area during the winter months. Even when the roads are dry, they are white with salt.

Sad story. I know I wouldn't be able to last more than a few days. Can't the car be driven on those nice dry sunny days? Keep in mind these cars are made to be driven in winter, they are German after all and the winters in Germany are much more intense than in NJ.

I lived there for 3.5 years and had only one significant snow accumulation. Even when it does snow it normally doesn't "stick". Salt is rarely used in the north ( to avoid reaching the drinking water supply) and really only in the automatically applied salt water systems for the ( very high) valley bridges on the A45.
But to your point.....perhaps I will take my car out on some of those clear dry days...

I'm in Jersey and I drive both my cars year round Each gets taken out at least once a week whenever the temp is over 45. A favorite of mine is a nice monday night drive to get over the monday blues and think about the work week ahead.
If a real cold spell comes I go to the battery maintainers for a while and then I might take them out for a local drive (30mins or so) at reduced speed every 10 days or so.
Done this for years with several BMW Z4's; boxsters and now the 911 with no issues.

I just returned from a week on the road and was missing
driving my P-Car.
I woke up this morning to a temperature of 12 degrees
and thought I should take the truck today. However,
when I went out to the garage, I unplugged the battery
maintainer and lit off the 997.
Porsche season is not yet over in the 12 degree Midwest weather.

It's your car and your certainly entitled to do what you wish, but I just don't see any reason to put the car away. It's not a collectible, it won't rust. You obviously have another car to drive. Mine is not my DD yet I will drive it all year round. Plenty of nice, sunny days in the winter.
If it gets dirty there are also plenty of days that are warm enough where I can wash it. (the neighbors think i'm nuts but that's oK LOL).
