I believe the info I read says that it is an aux. replacement battery, it doesn't do well in cold temps, so you have to switch it out with the regular one, at the appropriate times.

You mothball it for the winter... but there's still 7 months to enjoy it.

i have a very a reasonable suspicion that the first batteries we install in our cars will not carry the Porsche emblem, and that fact is quite disappointing. They want us to spend 85k so we can buy a 2010 Carrera and show off the nice battery to our friends... in 2 or 3 more years it will be the Honda aftermarket catalog, and we will be running 800 dollar L-ion batteries made for Honda in our Porsches, unfortunate as this may be...

it's disrespectful to you ladies and gentlemen who run and race their flagsip cars.

The LI has been an option for the GT3RS since 2010. About $2200 and comes with a regular battery as well. Good for weight reduction and much cheaper than some carbon fiber parts which reduce similar weight. Not good for cold weather (near freezing) temps.
