I'm going to be in and out of the frunk numerous times a day/week...where is the best place to put pressure to close to lock...emblem? not on emblem?, nearby?...I've yet to check the manual if the discussion exists but perhaps theres experience out there that says "how to"...perhaps it doesn't matter? Thanks!

I close my 'frunk' using the emblem purely to avoid putting fingerprints on the hood (basalt black). I have been doing this for 3 years without a noticeable problem.

I dented my '79's hood pressing on the crest. I know, different car, different hood material, but have used two hands ever since.

At Law

Dealer recommends gently pressing down on the emblem.

This is safe for the frunk and ensures no fingerprints on
the hood.

However, you do get fingerprints on the emblem, so you have
to carry a soft dew rag around in your right rear pant pocket at all times in order to wipe the emblem clean. You'll look like Bruce Springsteen
from his album cover in the eighties with the dew rag
hanging out of your pocket, but it's worth it.

You can also use your suit jacket's pocket square to wipe off
the badge prints.

Years ago Porsche used to recommend the pressure on the crest solution. I actually deviate from that because that guidance was when the hoods were steel. With the aluminum hoods I can only imagine them to be a bit weaker. I use my knee below the crest. No fingerprints, either!

Part of my car delivery docs includes a brochure entitled 'Getting to know your Porsche sports car'. It warns about the new Al hoods and recommends lowering the hood gently and locking it by applying pressure to the L/R areas immediately adjacent to the crest emblem.

Note: I guess few read the docs that come with their cars.

I picked my 997 Targa up at the factory. When they walked me through the car, they specifically said to push down the trunk (I still call it the hood) on the edges (ie, not the crest). Having said that, I do occasionally push down gently on the crest, especially right after a wash.

After reading all of the replies, I have now discovered that
I have no idea how to safely close my frunk.

It appears you missed one reply. Read reply #11 above and you will learn the factory recommended procedure. That is by the book (see post #16).

I did watch the video. I found it very interesting.

I will stick with this method for my future frunk closings.
