I'm pretty comfortable that the drivetrain on my Porsche will last quite a long time, I'm much less comfortable with the electronics and some of the other doo dads..

Some people will disagree, NSX coulb be consider an exotic by many. Around my work there are over a dozen P-cars, where only a few NSXs and they get more attention around here than my beloved 997.
One of my employees have NSX and getting off it gracefully takes some getting used to it. Actually very similar sitting position to the Gallardos.

It is not hard to get, does not produce any performance that other cars can't match, and it is not a dream car for majority of people. Just because it is now out of production, and its shape looks good or different does not qualify it to be an exotic in my dictionary. Maybe it is one of the first car that has a lot of aluminium makes it somewhat unique, but that's different than being an exotic.
But again, this is not meant to start an argument as nobody needs to agree with me.
BTW how do you define exotic?

don't want to argue, nothing wrong with NSX and I don't dislike it, but it is not an exotic as far as I'm concerned.

A Ferrari 308 isn't that hard to get either. Nor is a Countach with a blown engine. You wouldn't call them exotics? A new stock C2 would outrun them on any track.

I would define an exotic as a sports car with very limited production, which handles exceptionally well and uses advanced technology. The NSX, on all those counts, is an exotic. The technology was way ahead of its time when the car came out. The fact that Honda really stopped developing the car, and by 2005 there were only evolutionary changes over the 1991, is another matter.
