Default Sport Bucket seats...

Do these seats have an actual Porsche racing application or are they solely for the general public vehicle sales for wow factor, looks etc...I would think if developed for racing, there has to have been some research regarding built in positioning and comfort for such a grueling application...

Can't answer that exactly but they are comfortable and will take harnesses. I have them coming in my 2010 Cayman. From what I have read they are also the lightest seats you can get OEM. The down side is neither Porsche nor any after market vender I have talked to makes a fire bottle mount for the seat. Oh well there are other places to mount the fire bottle.

They are made for street (airbags; tilt forward for rear access) and track (well bolstered; provisions for shoulder and sub belts), but not racing (real racing shells are lighter).

Racing seats need to be certified by SFI or FIA to be legal. These seats are not certified.

Thanks everyone...I've not yet had the opportunity to examine one closely...any idea who makes them or where they are made?

Good for Street / DE, not racing.

SharkWerks has made a fire extinguisher kit for the GT2 seats for a while now:

They have no real racing applications but the Sport Buckets do NOT tilt to give you access to the back they are fixed.

Nope, the sport buckets tilt forward for access into the rear. Take a look at the photos.

In an effort to clarify, all P03 Sport Buckets have the tilt-forward feature.

The somewhat similar looking Euro-only Carrera GT shells (standard on the 997GT3RS and optional on the 997GT3 in other markets, and installed in some US cars thorugh the aftermarket) do not tilt forward.

Those even look sea blue which is what I'm getting in my Cayamn. The '09 C2S has sea blue but adaptive sport seats . Question, how wide a belt can you get through the seat belt openings on the Sport bucket seats? The shoulder harness openings are plenty wide for a 3" harness. Thanks

A couple of photos from SharkWerks fire extinguisher post. I'll be using Hans belt on the driver's side, 3" shoulder passenger, 2" laps all around.

Better have thin hips, legs & bottom for these.

I do...and now that you mention it...they're a good "passenger filter" too!
