Default Mean people suck.

Some mouth breather smashed out my driver's side window this morning and took my Valentine1.

Trying to look on the bright side, they didn't take my helmet or Traqmate display which were both also in the car, and Momentum says they'll be able to fit a new side window before the weekend (headed to TWS). I was also really impressed by the police response and the management at my office building (was parked at work). I got the full CSI:Houston treatment, they took fingerprints off the car, the works. More than I would have expected from just a smash and grab like this. Still. I hate that there are people in the world who would do this sort of thing.

Just venting, thanks.

So sorry to hear that, from a fellow Houstonian. Is the parking garage at your workplace shared with other nearby businesses, or easily accessed by outsiders? If it's any consolation, thank goodness the thief only damaged your window. This sure does suck...

Ouch, NUGGET, sorry the idiot picked yours. Just think though, he'll probably get a whopping $25 for the V-1!

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Do you park in the Galleria area? I've heard they have had bad break-ins lately.

That happened to me and about 2 other cars in a mall parking lot YEARS ago in OKC. They got my BIG Escort detector! Ha! I believe the death penalty applies. Glad it was mostly only glass damage.

That's painful---a bad experience indeed. Any CCTV footage available?

Glad to hear that the police were responsive and that window replacement will be quick.

That sucks. Sorry. This is a main reason that I don't own a radar det. I would constantly worry that someone would break in to steal it. I hate that I feel that way, but I do.

Scums of the earth! It looks like you had no other damage, which is a miracle, as the glass could have scratched stuff.

Incidentally... Valentine recommends never leaving the detector visible on-board.

*** heads! Hope they overdose on the drugs they buy with it.

Kudos to the cops in Houston.

Good luck with speedy repairs.

Sorry to hear of your damage and loss.

I suffered the same fate- on a rainy day, no less.

After the break-in I switched to a Escort Solo cordless and unclip it from the visor and place it under the seat when I park in most public lots.

Also, be very careful when cleaning up / checking for broken glass. I kept finding it for months...

That is just a violation of your world. It has to be a stupid person, but even this is mind boggling
stupid. To do that to a RS is just humanly wrong.

Tis one reason I'll not install a radar detection system if and until I can get Valentine quality detection from sensors embedded into the car... where the detection system is integral to the vehicle. Sensors along the roof line? Probably never practical.. I'll just use my gut-and-brain based detector till then.

Sorry to hear about the smash and grab. I have been using Valentines for years and just recently started putting the Escort 9500CI's in my cars. They work great and are very stealth.
