997S as track car may suck

get some coilovers...
for track and street duty I recommend the JRZ RS or the new moton clubsports (these are the non external canister models) but still double adjustable
Will transform your car into a track beast!

I'm late to this conversation, must have missed it. The 997.2 C2S w/ Sport PASM is an amazing track machine. I don't have the PSM failure issue, but have only had this car to Lime Rock, Monticello, and Watkins Glen so far.
First thing I'd look at is the lowering springs you put on. I tried a few different combinations on my 07 C2S and removed it all (sways, Damptronics, etc.). The stock setup is pretty darned good on its own and if you are going to mess with anything, you should change the whole system, meaning shocks and springs, sways, etc. and then get a real pro alignment. While the stock suspension in my 07 was brilliant, though limited, as soon as I started changing things the car got twitchy and slower.
