Exactly! The M5 sport button decreases the servo assist input to the steering thus creating a "heavier" steering feel with more direct feedback to the driver. It's a great feature I wish the Porsche sport button provided.

I had a '99 540 Sport which I loved. Loved o much in fact I sold it to by my M5. For those not familiar, the 540 sport is actually significantly different from the regular 540. It is a lower and stiffer suspension as well as a 3.15:1 final drive ratio instead of the normal 2.85:1 thus putting down more torque to the rear wheels. It's a great car!
