Also how much horsepower increase to see 0.1 sec shaved off 0-60mph ?? etc
Whats the drive train loss in 997.1 4S and 997.1 S ??

*shrug* Straight lines are boring. Throw some curves into the equation and you'll really see what lighter weight accomplishes.
I have no idea what the 0-60 time was for any car I've owned.

Decreaseing a cars weight is the best way to gain performance in a 911
I have read that 10 lbs. in weight loss = 1 HP Gain.
Technically you are not gaing HP, but each HP has to push less weight so you are gaing accelration and handling.

Weight savings in a sports car is always good. And not only to shave lap seconds, but to make the car lithe and responsive. That's why my car does not have Bose, XM, motorized seats. I do not want to constantly carry dead weight while I drive.

Most say about 10 hp gain for every 100 lbs lost. So about 22 hp gain if you lose 100kg or 220 lbs. That might yield a .1-.2 sec difference in zero to 60 mph at best. But I think the bigger benefit is if the weight is lost in the right places, the handling improvement is what you'll notice more.

Good thread. What are some ideas for getting rid of weight?
btw-I had an interesting conversation with a guy at BMW's M division. I was asking him about the new M weight vs. the old. He stated that it was cheaper to get more power than less weight. It's a shame they think that way because I used to like BMWs.
