Lots of good advise here. Completely agree with the November switch over and yes it's temperature driven not just snow.
I went to the dealer and negotiated on a set of Carrera IV 18" wheels with TPMS and Nokians for my new 997.2 C4S cab. I like the look of the Carrera IV wheels to give me something different visually for part of the year. Hopefully no issues with the TPMS since it's all OEM. Got about 20% off --so went with it.

I too buy all my tires at the tirerack and never had an issue. They can also recommend an installer in your area if you're reluctant to have someone touch your car outside the dealership. Shipments from the Delaware DC usually arrive in NY the next day. I'm not affiliated with them, just a loyal customer

OK, I thought you might have taken a pic when you put the wheels on at some point recently just as a test. Just a pic of the wheel and tire combo would be interesting.

I just emailed Nokian US for their Porsche availability. Perhaps they'll have new news. For the time being, here's some quick research. By the way, going to cheap 18's will save your expensive original factory 19's from the rigors of salt and snow and chains and mud and grit and aargh! (refinishing cost per wheel after chains scuff up the clear coat is about the same as the new purchase price of CCW or OZ Racing ... plus you have your snow wheels and tires mounted once and last several years ... I've had the some Nokians on a Cayenne Turbo for three ski seasons with 500 mile round trip to the snow at least 20-25 trips per season.
Here's what Tire Crack says is standard issue on the '09 C4S show the two OEM tires and their overall diameter and rotations per mile (stay in that range to avoid PSM/ABS issues when choosing snow tires in 18's or 19's.)
235/35ZR19 Rosso: 25.5" 820 PS2: 25.5" 817
305/30ZR19 Rosso: 26.1" 798 PS2: 26.3" 788
And here's the Nokian WR:
235/40R18 95V XL N0 : 25.4" 828
(Barely 1% oversize rpm won't worry the electronics. It's N-rated, so we know Mr Porsche approves fitment)
295/35R18 99V N0 : 26.1" 793
(Ideally between the Pirelli and Michelin summer tire diameters)
You could go with a 19" solution:
235/35R19 25.5" 816 (almost identical size)
295/30R19 26.0" 793 (well within 1%, though a 30 Series is marginal)

FWIW (and that's not all that much), I am not a Pirelli fan. Had them on my 911 and found them hard and noisy. Had them on wife's Audi and was amazed at how they tracked longitudinal faults in the road and were even noisier than on the 911. Switched them out on both cars to Michelins. Problems solved

+1 on the pirellis.they have always sucked for me. I Swear by michelin... I just bought michelin pilot alpin N2 rating 18 on carrera IV wheels for my 997.1 c2s

i agree with chris probably because i'm from cali (the OC) too. but had blizzaks on the old S4 and they were great. got me through anything in 2 winters in row that were bad in philly. car and driver recently rated snow tires go to web site and check it bro

As for Pirellis, the Corsa track tire is pretty good, the Rosso road tire is pretty ordinary and the PZero Nero M+S is too much of an "all season" to be useful in snow, I think.
The Pirelli snow tire is looking appealing compared to the only available Nokian fitment which is a bit more of an all season tire, but the email reply from Nokian USA says this is a winter tire for the rest of the world, but marketed as an all season tire with a winter rating (whatever all that means.)
I have unstudded and studded Nokian Hakka's on my Cayenne Turbo -- the unstudded is fantastic in all but the most difficult climbed and deep snow conditions. The studded version of the same tire added the ability to accelerate and climb, but I still needed chains in anything more than about two foot of overnight snow when climbing a 15% grade (snow on asphalt.)
