Newer pumps in california has that problem. Turning the nozzle 180 degree works for me as mentioned in above posts.

The "2nd Wind" maneuver - good plan.

Also, Porsche has replaced the filler receptacle on the car with an updated part that was designed to correct a seperate issue. If anything, its made this problem worse.

I tried to Google for EVA / Heli pumps - nada. I wonder if it is just something regional - you're in Cali? I've not had any problems filling my car by hand or by using the automatic shutoffs at the pump - all over GA, at least.

EVR, http://www.evrhome.org/ reciculates the vapor through a 2nd tube. The law in Ca is that all stations where supposed to have converted by 4-09 but it wasnt feasible and now Im not sure where it stands. There seem to be all sorts of ways for gas station owners to wiggle out of it at least for a while as the conversion is all the station owners cost. I wonder why (besides emissions) either EVR or Heli would be designed differently for Ca? I know there are others having the problem here.

Just to add my $.02...I also have this problem and am not happy that MY $100K car does not readily accept gas. I have resorted to just standing there and holding the pump like it is 1950 again. I agree that it seems to be pump specific. If i go to the most expensive Chevron station near my house, it will work no problem. This means that I have the problem 90% of the time I fill up since I rarely go to that station unless I'm really late.

I will try the 180 degree thing at my next fill-up. Why do I think I'm going to be covered in gasoline by the time I'm through......ahhhhh passion.....
