Default New member Q, how many of you cant fill up unless

the gas staion has EVR (new style) pumps? The old style, I think its called Heli wont allow me to fill up past 3/4 of a tank.

some might not think its a big deal but not only is it inconvenient but am I wrong to expect more out of a $160K car?

I drive an 08 turbo. Maybe I should start a poll but who else has this problem?

My SA is aware of it and has others who experience it and has explained that Porsche doesnt plan on doing anything.

I've never heard of this problem.
FWIW, I have an 09 turbo and have never had that problem.
Are you in the U.S.?

In Ca. There was a law passed with all sorts of ways around it that required all Ca stations to convert to EVR. the SA said hes got other people with the problem and that some care, some dont.

What happens if you pull the nozzle out so that it's not way down the neck of the filling tube? Can't you get it to fill up that way?
I've found that when the nozzle is up there by the top, it doesn't sense the backpressure.

After awhile you will figure it out. They're sometimes a pain in the neck. You will learn that you may not push it all the way in, and may even have to rotate it a bit, and then set the rate slower than max. I also believe some cars can't tolerate it well. A friend of mine has the same model car as mine (06 S) and he has trouble with premature shut down sometimes. I think it all comes down to technique. Just be patient until you figure it out. If it never gets sorted out, consider taking it to the dealership with a complaint about the vent line,--it may be kinked.

Remove the nozzle to equalize pressure, re-insert nozzle.

In my 09, I put the pump nozzle all the way in (Washington, not sure what style nozzle, the end is just a curve of bare metal nozzle (no surrounding compressible vapor recovery sleeve).. .I think its non-EVR as I think I saw some of those when I lived in Louisiana on a few of the gas stations).

Never had a problem filling up. I let the system shut off. Start the car and the needle on the gauge goes up to FULL, which I'm assuming is full.

I sometimes do that just so it will last longer.

We can always count on you Dave. Hillarious!

Seriously though, I have similar issue with my 07 T4S. I don't remember having same issue with my 05 C2S cab. I have found that rotating the nozzle about 90 degrees clockwise seems to help somewhat. I'm reluctant to only partially insert the nozzle (careful Dave) as it sometimes doesn't trip properly and blurps gas out (watch it Dave!) before triipping. Similarly, filling too slowly sometimes prevents a nozzle trip before gas spills out.

I have that problem and I just rotate the nozzle 180 degrees so it's completely upsidedown. The dispenser specifically has a warning about this but it works fine on my 08.

My 3 week old 997.2 came delivered with 3/4 tank. Was supposed to be full. My first fill-up was 3/4 tank. Then I went to a different gas station with same style EVR pumps and tank was filled full. Used the same station yesterday and the tank filled full. So try different pumps as well as the mentioned inserting at 90 and 180 degrees (the pump that is..).

I have the same problem. My solution is once the pump stops, I pull up without removing the nozzle and pump again. Thats seems to work or me.
