Unfortunately, in their quest to lower weight, plastics are proliferating on these cars, and that stuff will never stand the test of time.

Choose your cost. The depreciation/ replacement cost or the cost of maintenance. Say you paid $95K (cash, not a lease) for your car & kept it for 4 years. Let's say that your car is now worth $55K. The latest/greatest Pcar that you must have is 105K. You're out another 50K for the new car. If the car you just sold is a good car w' low mileage, who cares what it costs for maintaining it. For 50K, you can buy a helluva lot of maintenance. Bottom line, it's a personal decision how you want to spend your $$! Time will tell how the 997 holds up. I see lots of well kept "old" p cars on the street.
