Anyone look at the "spy" videos of the 911 Coupe and Cab on that link? Arrgh! The design is sort of Z4ish. Better buy NOW!
I think those cars turned out to be the 2010 Turbo with PDK.

Bet that the ducktail and new interior material make it into the next gen 911 as options, along with no bumperettes and bubble roof.
The Sport Classic is surely meant to gauge the market, but in terms of a price range for a very low production volume car with minimal visual distinction. We're not seeing 991 features creep into the 997.2

I don't think there's anything much here that will pertain to the 991. The Cayman roof would be okay, but that's unimportant. With the "under new management sign" hanging out front, Porsche is surely going to "punctuate" their current products and we should see everything after 2010 revamped to suit the Piech and VW.

I'd like to think that after 20 or 30 years of half-assed attempts at bumperettes, Porsche might get around to solving the DOT test puzzle (it's something like 5 mph bump with only paint marring, then a 10 mph bump with less than $1000 damage? ... something like that ...) Anyway, if you ever take off the rear bumper cover, it seems to me there's ample space in there for moving the crumple tubes forward and generally making the rear overhang three or four inches shorter (obviating the need for bumperettes.)

Keep in mind that the 991 has already been designed. Been done for some time. VW picking up the company now has no impact with what the 991 will look like,--because it's already done. Porsche is years ahead on designs. This 911SC has nothing to do with the 991.

Does anyone else find the "clear" tail lights to be hideous? They clash with the whole theme of the car, and look like a cheap aftermarket mod. Like someone stuck Toyota Prius tail lights on the thing. Weird decision.

Love the rest of the aesthetics though.

Those people don't buy Porsche. They buy Ferrari.

Of course, but it's presumptuous to think the new SC would ever show up on the "extraordinary wealthy's" radar. If it's not a Carrera GT or Turbo, these people could probably careless about Porsche.

While this new SC might be a big deal on rennlist, and other Porsche circles, the hype will not reach the super wealthy the same way if at all. They will likely receive a limited edition invitation as I did for the new GT2, and only if they are previous Porsche owners at that.

These people are Ferrari buyers.
It's amazing to see how even the nouveau riche will go from Porsche to Ferrari in an instant and never look back. I've seen it happen.

I don't think the extremely wealthy are only Ferrari buyers. In fact I feel that many extremely wealthy individuals tend to be on the more conservative side and this car provides just that. In my opinion the car is extremely elegant yet sporty plus it is a nod to Porsche's heritage. Many people would find Ferrari's and even GT3s and 2s to be ostentatious. On that note, when can I buy a ducktail.
