I had a 993, 996 and a couple of 997's. I would avoid the 996, the dealer finally took mine back because of handling issues that could be resolved. They worked on it for a year. If I had it to again, I'd have stuck with my '95 993 - it was an excellent car. I miss the sound of the air cooled engine winding up. The power and handling of the 997's are nice, but to have fun in a car I don't need that much power.
