comments on Hankook tires!

I'll be looking at a set of these as well when I need new tires. Great review in the recent Car & Driver (came in 2nd place I believe) and can't beat the price. I think a set of 4 is cheaper than just the rears on my current PS2's.
FWIW, I don't track my car, I never intend to track my car, and I never drive in the rain (strictly a weekend fun toy). Given this, I'm comfortable looking at these tires. If I tracked my car and/or it was a daily driver, than maybe I'd wait a bit until these tires have been out awhile and lots of reviews have come in.

I don't mind paying what it takes to get good tires, but I do think the PS2s and Pirelli's are overpriced. There are lots of other tires for less money that are very good. Its tempting to just run Nitto NT01 on the street but I'll bet their lower cost is offset by much faster wear (that's what I use on the track).
Each year there are more tire choices for our cars, and some of them are even worth trying. The Hankook's appear to be in that category. Ling Long, not so much.

The 997 performs significantly different if you shoe it with crappy tires. I use the Bridgestones which give outstanding performance and wear over the P and M tires. Don't ever look at Contis.
Don't own a car that you have to shortcut on tires to drive or you miss a lot.

I don't drive at that level on the street - just the track. Half the year I am driving (daily) on winter tires, so there's the first compromise. Since I'm nowhere near the car's limits on the street, I am more sensitive to cost and noise (although there needs to be pretty decent performance, too).
