Too late!! I have become completely become comforatable with the buttons and it makes more sense
than my AGM shift paddles. The buttons are NEVER out of reach like the paddles were, and I dont have to think about- "where are the paddles".

Feh. Now that I am used to them, I like the buttons better than the paddles.

i was the #1 guy to bitch about the current setup, but after driving a BMW M3 with DCT and +/- paddles attached to the steering wheel i feel our setup is better.

so i would rate them in this order
#1: +/- on column
#2: Current PDK
#3: +/- Paddles on steering wheel

Paul:

I do agree, The buttons on the Tip were n ot nearly as user friendly. The way Porsche set the system up for the PDK is logical and I like the redundancy. where ever the steering wheel is in rotation I always can easily get to a gear selector. I'm back to the Masters course in Birmingham next month... more track time with a PDK. Tomorrow i turn 67, on most days this getting old is not too bad, but then I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up Take care Jack

I never thought it would happen, but I'm with you guys too. After driving around without the paddles, I'm now used to them.

I'm guessing that since the paddles are on the steering wheel, it should be possible to do a dealer install of a paddle wheel?

It's amazing to observe how [strong] opinions change.

Agreed... and since the new ones are on the wheel, I'll keep the buttons.

I wonder if Porsche will sell this wheel with paddles to retro fit the button wheel?

I think paddles in fixed position on the column (retaining the buttons on the wheel) has an advantage. Just try finding a button when you're in a hairpin and you've had to move your hands.

If Porsche wants to offer a quick "rally" rack (less than one turn lock to lock ...) then buttons and paddles both work well enough.

The option I'd like to see is the shifter delete along with a console delete to recreate the "real" 911 dash lines. And moving the seats inboard (along with the wheel and pedals) would be great. A McLaren F1 seating position is a fascinating proposition. The idea of it makes me feel like getting a 993 and "rearranging" the furniture. : )

My preference is fixed paddles > porsche buttons> paddles on wheel.
