OK - so I just tested 'Manual Mode' on the NavTV - works perfectly. Much better - now I can get right to what I want.
I also tested running Pandora on the iPhone - it comes through the NavTV just fine. So all apps providing audio should work. Of course, the sound quality of Pandora was noticeably worse than my songs - the compression is much worse due to streaming.
