Default 997 Sirius installation

Has anyone successfully installed Sirius through the PCM of an 06 911? I had an audio shop do it, but the access keeps going down. Latest, coming back from a Watkins Glen DE, got system error message and lost all audio, including radio and nav. And the Sat menu is not accessible.

Last time, took it to the dealer, and they said the PCM wasn't programmed to recognize the Sat. It worked for awhile when they reset it, but they also said Porsche never developed a Sirius app for the '06, and they wern't sure it wouldn't happen again. sure 'nuf.......

So am I banging my head against the wall trying to get this done, or is my installer just not doing it right?

I've put Sirius in 07 C2S, and 07 GT3. Didn't have to have dealer do anything. The PCM automatically recognized the device.

I have heard other people having to have dealer program the radio using PIWIS, but seemed like most people didnt have a problem.

Do you already have NAV and/or Bose?

What kind of system did you install? Porsche Cayenne, Dension, or NavTV? I put a NavTV system in my '06, and it works reasonably well. I have Bose and the stock navigation system as well. There are times when I lose reception but only once in a while, and usually in really hot weather (I think the unit overheats in the trunk). Other than that, it just works.

BTW, the installer did not need to program the PCM; it recognized the unit by itself, and it just started playing.

If you don't have a CD changer, dealer needs to use PIWIS to tell the system to recognize the Dension unit which takes the place of the changer.
