I've perused many online sales, and you CAN find an '09 Turbo coupe easily. The cabs are scarce, and priced a bit high still...but you should be able to find something if you are not too picky on options/colors/etc.

I've been searching for months. Found one, wrong color, but close spec, and that dealer had head in sand syndrome.

Good luck in your search.

Drive the 09 before you commit to a 2010. The DFI engines are missing some of that "deep throaty engine" sound you love so much.......least in the non-turbo models.

For the original question: 09 TT. Thats what it sounds you want (need?). As the ads say ("It's the real thing") - Supercar performance. Beautiful 911 looks but more aggressive. The supercar you can live with on a daily basis.

Also, I strongly recomend doing Driving Events with your local Porsche Club. It helps tame teh aggression on normal roads for chunks of time (that can save your butt when it comes to speeding tickets).

Let us know what you decide to do.

Thanks Guys!! I appreciate the support, the advice and the compliments!!

Not surprising to most of you, I have decided the '09 TT is the perfect solution. I've even found one that I really want and it's far enough away to allow me to break it in on the trip home. I have been eyeing it for awhile -- but the dealer was playing hardball with the numbers in July, so I passed on it -- and pondered my order on porsche.com.

But now that I've made my decision, I reconnected with the dealer. And guess what -- with 8 (yes, I said eight) '09 TT cabs still sitting on his lot, amidst 43 unsold '09 911's in total, he continues to be an insolent jerk. You'd think, with that much '09 inventory remaining, and my willingness to take his most expensive left-over off his hands, he would answer a few simple questions about the lease and installing K-40. Did I mention it's a "fully" optioned special order someone didn't take?

Not sure I have the patience to play the dealer's game -- but I'd really like the car. Any advice on how I get it and what is realistic on pricing this late in the game?

Where you are makes a difference with a cabriolet. By late September cab season is essentially over for certain areas, and that's the time to push on a cab purchase. Otherwise, he will eat it for another several months, or wind up wholesaling it out.

I think I may have found a different TT that has all but one of my "absolute must have" requirements. Oddly, after getting a quick glimpse, I am not sure that I absolutely must have that option after all... Now I have to decide if the color fits - but in the interim, I am off to wheelenhancement.com, as my new baby will need a new pair (set) of shoes - I am very into shoes!!

I will keep you all posted - and, of course, I will post pictures if I make it my own!

I hope it's something other than silver.

Suggest you send a PM to Alfie - he is a dealer and has a good reputation for finding cars at the right price. I think he could help you. Some dealers are nuts on their pricing others are discounting.

The M5 is more of a heavy family sedan that really comes alive in the higher rpm ranges. Below 4k it's a dog and I found in the city traffic I am in it was a bit sluggish especially with the SMG that really comes alive when you are shifting closer to WOT. It is much more of a brute than the Porsche.

The next M5 will probably be a twin turbo engine with much more guts in the lower rpm ranges. M cars are fun to drive and if you need a sedan they are more athletic than the E63, although the new E63 may raise the bar.

I prefer the 997 because; it is much more tractable down low and easily to drive at slower speeds, the M5 gas mileage was awful, and the Porsche is more connected to the road.

I do have another car to use for Home Depot runs, I don't think I could survive with the 997 as my only car.

I could have wrote the same exact thing here myself. I thought I wanted a 4dr sports sedan too......had an M5 for 3 months and got rid of it to get back into a Porsche. While I do think it is a very nice car, it just wasn't me. It does not have that sexy look, the "driver's feel", etc. On top of that, like ^^^^ said the gas mileage is abysmal, the SMG sucks when not at WOT and I absolutely hated the Idrive. If you like a "driver's car" don't get a 4dr sedan of any kind.
