In hindsight I probably could have pulled the seats, harnesses, & bar out and still sold the car for $60,000. My point being if I wanted to go through the trouble I may have been able to obtain $4000 - $5,000 more.

I like the buyer. He contacted me about an hour after I listed this last Wednesday evening (8-12-09) and was very pleasant and easy to work with. He is from this forum and as much as I loved this car I am confident it went to a good home.
How did that work? It seems like you would have needed to sell your car first to the dealer in order for them to CPO the car. You must be very friendly with the dealer to make that happen, as they could have been stuck with your car if the buyer fell through.

Yes I took the car and the Buyer to the dealer. The dealer is acting more as an escrow / middleman. Some dealers will do this type of service for $1000 fee. The CPO was $2000 and I believe there was tax on the CPO plus smog etc.

The Buyer and I went to the dealer at the same time and all paperwork is handled simultaneously. No way a dealer would buy the car from me for $60000 to make $1000 that is for sure.

The buyer did a PPI at the dealer last Friday. The PPI was done on a 37 page CPO inspection form. The car did not need anything to pass CPO.

Glad to see that it worked out. Win win for both. I hope the new owner enjoys it as much as you did! A very special car!

Thank you Edgy. I will miss it for sure. If everything goes according to plan I should be able to get over it by about Dec. - Jan.

Thank you. I do need to make some money to cover the $75,000 taxes included spread but at least I am well on my way.

Can you tell me which dealer offered the escrow/CPO warranty? I am searching for my first Porsche- 997S.

Thanks,

Something like this should be handled through the dealer where you do the PPI and where the seller may have an existing relationship.

Just read through this. What do you think that car would sell for today? January 2018? I have one same colour with 20,000km which is 12,000 miles

Thanks
