How much of a bass response should I expect to hear from the rear enclosure of the Bose system in an 08 C4S? Seems the bass was minimal until I faded forward. Thanks! There was a post somewhere suggesting to pack the bass enclosure of a Cayman perhaps, ...with synthetic cushion stuffing material to enhance the bass response.? I know the system leaves alot to be desired but this is what I have to deal with for now.
It's a quirky system - at least in the 997.2. If I put it in "audiophile" mode, there's just about no bass.
In normal mode, there's usually too much bass and treble - or as some have pointed out, a lack of mids. The good news is that a small amount of roll-off on the bass and treble makes a big improvement. I just cannot believe something claimed to be Bose "upgraded" system doesn't have an EQ with more that two shelves.
I saw that Cayman post about stuffing the sub - seems like it would be worth a shot; I just don't know how to apply that to a 911.
Mambodoc, whats your source? SAT, MP3, AAC, WAV, FM? I
All I could tell you that Sat, MP3 & AAC would not be the best to gauge bass levels.
In my car, every source is different - fortunately the sound system retains a different trim for each source.
DVD Audio is by far the best sounding - so few titles available though. And my new iPod Classic with WAV audio is not bad (a lot better than an older 80GB I had). I have not listened to anything else enough to know, but I suspect XM is the worst - certainly the worst technology, so it stands to reason.
I was test driving the C4S, and the source was FM. I think if booming...stuffing the box might be an idea, as was written on the Cayman site. My sense is that the bass response was minimal when all is faded to the rear...as soon as you fade forward, the bass kicked in with the door woofers...so, I was wondering what to expect from the rear. My Cayenne bose woofer is not booming but the vibe is still evident.
