I went with the Autozone AGM battery today. My old one was 7 years old and would not take a charge and cranking was getting progressively slower. I felt like I had to change it ASAP.

I probably would have gone for the cheaper model but they didn't have it. So I went AGM. $206'ish. Car now cranks effortlessly.

I replaced the original MOLL battery on my 2009 997.2 S. It was 8 years old but it would not maintain a charge. I replaced it with a Bosch 94R800BAGM battery from Pep Boys. This battery has a 4 yr warranty and has 800 CCA's. It is a perfect drop in fit with a drain tube and cost $153.99 with the Promo Code. Nice battery and starts the engine right up.

Just replaced original Moll in my 2011 Carrera GTS. Went with Interstate MTX-94R-H7. 850CCA, drops right in. $223.95 at the Interstate distributor, 36 month free replacement warranty.

Strangely, their website calls for the H8 size. There is room in the battery tray for an H8, but the far left hole in the tray is not treaded to accept the hold-down bolt.

The tray will also hold an H6 - same height and width just 1.5 inches shorter. Your H7 is the OEM size - Interstate is a great battery.

Just replaced my Moll on my .2, which I purchased from the dealer 7 years ago, with an Interstate MTX-94R H7. I went with the Interstate based on reputation and comments in this, and other threads. Bought it from the local tractor dealer who happens to be an Interstate distributor. I ordered, and he did too, a MTP, but they sent him a MTX (more CCA) for the same price as the MTP. The savings was passed to me. Total time to replace was about 8 minutes. 10mm wrench and a 13mm socket with a 10" extension. No issues at all. Vent in the right place. PSM and PASM "Failed" messages went away before I got off my street. I held the window switches in the up and down positions for 10 seconds, all went well. XM radio stations all good. I have not checked the other bands.

I’ve been using an Optima red top for a while now, powerful battery. Zero issues. Used the mounting tab it came with and existing battery tray to lock it in place and zero problems. No extra expense needed. I don’t drive much but the .1 is my daily driver. Charge the battery on a CTEK or Optima charger if you do less than 25mi/day...

I also ended up with an Optima redtop 34R. Mine is mounted with an adapter board. I opted for an Optima because I wanted to eliminate H2 venting, and yes an AGM can still vent H2 but only if grossly overcharged.

I do the maintainer routine to keep the battery fully charged (using a Ctek MUS 4.3 in the AGM setting) and the starter is very strong.

The Optima Redtop must be always charged and never below 80% capacity. So in a car like this (using 1Ah/day) if the car sits it needs to be on an appropriate battery maintainer. On another car also with a redtop (which has an even lower current drain) it did not start the car after 12 days when the maintainer was not connected.

The Yellowtops are deep discharge but they weigh far more.
