Try the 997 Turbo, it's a fast car, makes the 997.2 power seem uneventful.

i will get a 997.2 turbo if they come out pdk soon.. figured thats a good choice since turbo doesnt come out for 2 years usually on new body styles anyway so thats 2014....

pdk turbo would just probably land me in jail or kill me.. just need to find a good lawyer before the pdk turbo drops.

The Turbo is 4wd and heavy. I prefer the 997.2S any day. Some also prefer the linearity of atmospheric engines.

An end result of 125 mph instead of 90 mph from a 997.1->997.2?
ROFLMAO!
Please don't tell me that this is comparing a 6-speed in 6th gear to a PDK.
ROFLMAO.

From your comments on this and other posts, my guess is you like the car. My C2S has gone over 6500 miles in about 6 months and will go in tomorrow for a software flash on the PDK. The dealer called and said there was a service letter and my car might fall into that VIN # Mine was a Nov '08 production. Only issue I have had is a slight hesitation when moving away from a stop. I know, I should move away quicker. Other than that I really enjoy the car. By the way when do we see pictures of yours? Jack

This service recall on PDK software really confuses me. My car was a September 08 build, September 27 2009 delivery date. I have asked my dealer twice about this but they know nothing about a PDK software recall or update.

Then I read somewhere on a forum that the update softens the shifting of the PDK....I would not want that to happen as I enjoy the sporting nature of PDK especially at the track.

Mike:

My dealer told me that they have done several and in each case the owner was happy with the change and on test drives the shifts were even more precise ... one of those "who do you believe"

The other day I accelerated to, what I thought was 60 mph. Imagine my surprise when the speedometer read 65 mph!

And that's with a tip!

Dave,

I like the ***** tracks over the top of your Boxster. Could use some fresh pics of the TT.

that is comparing me downshifting to the same rev's.. i.e in 6th.. going to 3rd.. pdk was in 7th and went to 4th.

im not an idiot, i know not to compare apples and oranges. saying when i would pass.. dropping to 3rd.. and flooring it for set amount of time.. in the 997.2 the same amount of time it took to downshift twice and pass i was doing 125 in 997.2

hope u have fun being a jackass rolling on the floor tho.

clearly dont understand what was said..

take a 997.1 and downshift to proper passing gear and pass a truck.. lets say this takes 15 seconds..

take a 997.2 and floor it (downshifts faster than you ever could) and pass a truck.. and use the same 15 seconds as comparison.

in the 997.1 the time to shift would not allow as much accel...
in the 997.2 the minimal shifting time means more accel=faster speed at end.

so in the old car if you drove a certain way and u drive that same way in 997.2PDK u are going faster in the pdk if you dont glance down because u dont realize the accel/shifting times.

Exactly my thoughts !

Test drove a used 2008 997TT with Tiptronic. Besides the gear box being a dinosaur, I felt the car was not meant to be driven and enjoyed at a twisty road... It felt more like an on/off switch

Then test drove a 997.2 C4S with PDK and it felt like a go kart and the linearity of the engine made it much more enjoyable on curvy roads

The 997.2 cars and PDK are really impressive !

Your twisty road statement might make some sense if you were comparing the Turbo to a C2S, but not to a C4S. I will agree with you about the Tiptronic.

Todd, the 997.2 4S is actually a pleasure to drive on a race track. they've done something with the AWD system compared to older models. Note I am comparing it to my GT3 RS. Amazing car. The steering is heavier but the car responds to the steering very well with very little understeer. I was impressed.

If there is a 35 mph gap going from a 6-speed 997.1 to a PDK 997.2 then either 1) you can't drive a stick 2) your 997.1 was seriously broken or 3) your numbers are just way off.
I'm not being a jackass, I'm pointing out the ridiculous nature of thinking that the PDK is give you an extra 35 mph in a 15 sec pass. A friggin GT2 wouldn't put that kind of gap!

Obviously a 997.2 S PDK is faster than a 997.1 6-speed. Just get the numbers right friend.
