Since I noticed many of the guys on here seem to also have bikes, particularly Harley cruisers like mine, what is the recommended site (s) to list motorcycles for sale. Love my bike, but with two young kids now, my wife is politely "requesting" (read mandating) that I sell it. Thanks

Wow I used to buy and sell a lot of bikes but I sold my last Road King over 3 years ago right before my son was born. I cant believe how the prices of bikes got slammed.

yeah, I have heard the same thing. I own mine outright, so certainly not going to give it away to anyone, as I'd rather it just stay in my garage and be used less often than I would like. Luckily, like porsches, Harley's only get better with age (provided that you keep them up, which I do) Thanks

what ARE the prices of harleys? I was looking at the night rod last year it was aroudn 16K I think
and the dealer supposedly wont deal (last summer before the crash) THEN some lady told me I wasnt fat enough to Be a HOG.

Go to most harley dealers these days and they have brand new 2008's left, almost any 2009 you want and the 2010's are just about to arrive. Their sales are way off in the last two years. Last Xmas I had dealers calling me trying to get me to trade mine in on a new one with discounts off the MSRP and special financing. The economy has hit Harley hard, and their production is still very high, over 300,000 bikes a year, which is twice what it was 10 years ago.

The other side of it is the 2009's especially the touring models, made major changes/improvements. I would love to upgrade to a 2009/2010, but just can't afford it now.

Mine is a 2006 heritage softail classic dark burgundy every possible surface covered in chrome ($13K alone in accessories at the dealer). If anyone interested, selling for $16K, 12,000 miles.

none taken, as that is the impression I got as well in a quick review of some internet ads before I posted here looking for advertising advice. Oh well, I'll likely just keep it and ride it until the wheels fall off. Luckily, I have no need to fire sale it away. As stated earlier, if kept up, they are timeless machines.

I hear yaa I put 70k on my 1994 Fat boy before it was stolen and I had over 30k on my Road King. I used to be a flipper on bikes in the 1990's when they were hard to get but that market really went soft 5 years or more ago.

I have a friend who is an attorney working in corporate HD - she runs the repo operations in the Western US. According to her they're swimming in HD's they've had to repo from folks behind on their payments, and this glut of used bikes is taking a heavy toll on dealers and their inventories. She's said the dealers are begging them to slow down their repo work so they can move a few bikes off the floor. The company has shut plants and laid off workers to cut production, but the inventories remain high.
I had a 2001 Heritage, gave it to my sister and the cam bearings went bad and ate the engine. The bike had just under 6k mi when the engine went, and although this is a well known problem with this engine HD refused to stand behind it. She'd ridden HD's for over 30 years, she's on a BMW now because of this incident. She likes her Beemer.

I had a leak from the case to the calendar on my first fatboy repaired under warranty. On my second one the exhaust valve guides got burnt to a crisp with 12k miles and repaired under warranty. Both of those were evo engines not twin cam. I never had a problem with a twin cam motor.
