Default 05 997 c2 vs 03 996 tt

Which would you choose as a daily driver? 996tt is non-X50 car. Both are pretty low miles and priced comparably.

Personally, I would go with the 997. It's a great DD while you will pay and pay to play on the turbo. With more and more complex parts on the turbo, you will have a pricier daily ride there.

Before I bought my 997 I also thought on buying a used low mile 996TT and modded to +550Hp, but ended up seduced by 997 lines and updated technology PDK, PASM and so on. I will always miss the Turbo power but you can´t have it all

Drive both!
I did and was suprised at the difference between how the 2 cars felt & drove.
HUGE difference between these 2 cars.

Many here aren't to fond of the 996 series, but a 996TT or GT3 has been and will always continue to be a desired car IMHO.

interesting that you said this.

I drove my brother's 996TT for a few long drives. Yes, it is fast in a straight line, but I found the drive to be boring. I'm not sure if its the steering feel, AWD or suspension, but other than fast, it does not feel sporty. I also don't enjoy looking at its interior.

I had the exact same impressions. I drove a stock 996TT though; I'm assuming you did too. I would immagine with some modest suspension upgrades and chip on the TT - would give the car a much sharper personality. At the end of the day, I opted for the significant updates of the 997 - more refinement and evolution with some HP trade-off from the 996TT. I personally like the look of the 997 much better which I'll admit weighed heavily in my decision. All that said, a 996TT in stock or "done right" form is a ride to be proud of.

I have owned both and personally I love the turbo. I have a turbo s cab so it has some nice options that are standard in it. I modded my 997 as much as I could and stopped just short of doing a supercharger which was the next step. I like that you can gain HP with the turbo for a reasonable price where the 997 you still pay for upgrades but don't get as much in gains as you will with the turbo. The AWD is nice to if you drive in inclement weather.

I agree with Dan, though if you do by the 996tt, making it RWD is a very easy conversion. I did it with both of the 996tt's I had.

997 hands down.

The 996 is the ugly stepchild in the line of 911's. And I'm not just talking about the front of the car with those egg yolk headlamps. Compare the interior too.

Lotsa good thoughts so far - +1 on drive them both - they are different in so many ways.
There is nothing like the kick from the TT accelerating and that ends the discussion for some folks. Everything else about the 997 is far ahead of the 996 and that sways the rest of the people. I went 997 and have no regrets. But I loved the kick of that 996 turbo.

997.
996 interior and front end are too darn ugly. 997 is a much better overall car.
Just my $0.02
