I bought one of those CTEK Multi3000 battery chargers (looks like the OEM, but no logo, and 1/2 the price) soon after I got my car - I have that "bad driving profile" for batteries: "short, infrequent drives". And my car came off the lot - probably was there a few months and I'm sure got the same battery wear treatment. When I first hooked it up, it took several hours to go "green".
Seems like a good thing to have and use.

For you guys with these problems, how many miles do you have? I'm about to hit 3K today, but my car *knock on wood* has been 100% reliable. The wife and I are about to drive it cross-country for the Monterey Historics, so a PDK failure would be well beyond annoying...

Good News ...
The dealer did a software upgrade to the car and now it runs the way its suppose to do. It use to lunge forward when putting in drive...now it works like any other auto.
Found out something cool as well...All PDK's have an adaptation mode where the car take several hundred miles to get use to the driver. In that time it adjusts to ones driving style. Pretty wild.

Does yours still do the 2-1 hard jerk in sports auto mode when coming to a stoplight? Mine still does.

Good news rmccarthy. My PDK has figured out my wife & I are delicate during the break-in period - it upshifts to 6 or 7 as quickly as possible. Once we hit 2K miles I'll use Sport mode more frequently.

Yeah, that's what my salesman told me. I've had my PDK since March, still drives annoyingly conservative, 6th gear at 28MPH. I was told the adaptive mode takes at least 15 minutes of driving before adapting, then you start again from scratch once you turn the ignition off. I always shift manually, unless in traffic. Without the SC, the Auto Mode is unacceptable, but achieves 29MPG.

Not true. The tranny shift pattern controller does not lose its memory. It's continuously adapting, but it has a finite time constant, so the shift pattern changes are smooth.
