You're right. But as one who has recently experienced an IMS failure, I'm hoping that the new engine design, which has eliminated the IMS altogether, will be more reliable (or bulletproof as some say) than the one it replaced. I've owned 3 Porsches before. They were air cooled and the last one, a 911SC, I owned for about 13 years, without even a hiccup or worry, at least with respect to the engine.

Having owned Porsches now since '74, I expect to always own one. So I just wanted to know if anyone had heard of any problems or failures on the new design. I'm considering getting a newer car with the new engine design before the warranty on the replacement engine expires.
