I submitted my paperwork (including a deposit) to the dealer in May for a late September tourist delivery, and now I'm told I am out of luck. Not very good for public relations, to say the least. I think they (Porsche AG) knew it was coming, but didn't tell the dealers who were taking Tourist Delivery orders, and of course the customers had no idea it was coming either. Is this how they treat their potential new customers?
If you don't like it buy a GM.
I think thats there new motto.

This is highly unfortunate. I hope that they bring it back again soon. It was a lot of fun,--I'm glad I got to do it when I did. Ditto for the autobahns. If you don't get over there soon the Green Peace Climate Warming Al Gore fanatics will put speed limit signs on EVERY autobahn!
From: Trying to be the driver my car wants me to be
I heard that there was very little use of the Euro Delivery lately. I am sure if it was a profit producer and was helping car sales it would still be around. I bet it will come back at some point. If we could just get this ecomomy back on track again.
As far as the price, don't forget the price seems to be related to the performance of the car. Boxster is MUCH less than a Carrera and a Turbo or GT3 is more than a Carrera.
I am sorry to see this program end. I know that Gabriele's message says the program is "permanently closed", but I have faith it will come back some day.
I am certain there are just a couple scheduled Euro Deliveries going through, then that is it.
I was going to order a 2010 GT3 and do a Euro delivery (but succumbed to the siren car of a TT on the lot). I would have been pissed if I ordered it and then it was canceled!
Ha, pathetic! First they suspended the Grand Tour now the whole program?!? Euro Delivery, the only way I would buy a Porsche! mmm....... Audi R8, now available for Euro delivery!

Before you order an Audi R8 PM me. You might want to think twice about an R8.
A good friend of mine bought an R8 about a year ago, and enjoyed many of the obvious things about it, like the performance, styling, etc. The car is a real eye-catcher. There is no doubt that it's a beautiful design. However, over time, he discovered that the car wound up in the shop a lot. It was subject to a myriad of recalls for this and that. The entire steering rack had to be replaced, among other lesser things. In time, he started adding up the numbers, and the car was spending a lot of time in the shop. Many times recall programs didn't have parts in the country to support the recalls. The final straw for him was a rear suspension bearing. The local shop to await national Audi's input and go ahead, and they ending up waiting and waiting. It was obvious that it needed to be replaced, but they had to hold for Audi to approve it. He ended up calling Audi and told them that that was it. If Audi wanted to play with the exotics, they needed to have a more mature design and a better support structure. Neither of these exist. While the car is attractive, at first blush, when you start to DRIVE it and LIVE with it you soon discover that it's not really ready for prime time. Finally, he was tired of the amount of attention the car got,--nose prints on the windows, etc. He decided it was time to come back to Porsche, and got an 08 GT3. (It's his 22nd Porsche).

And you were going to withhold this information from us and keep it private by going PM?
Where's that freedom of information smilie when you need it.

I don't know that it's pathetic, exactly...just a sign of the times. Anyway, you'd choose a car based on which one still does Euro delivery?

tkids,--I would imagine that the "European Delivery" issue only applies to those "Norte Americanos" as Europeans continue to trek down to Zuffenhausen to get their cars. I don't believe they pay anything extra to simply arrive, put their plates on, and leave!
