very different. more like a burgundy color. looks kinda pink in certain light. i've been told it brings resale price down.
It only looks Pink in some pictures. In reality; It is a glorious Vibrant Wine Red Pearl in the sun and a Classy Burgundy in the shade. It's almost a flip flop. Below is my Boxster on a sunny day and currently in paint as part of the finishing of my restomod. To say this color brings the resale price down is a stretch from someone who does not know this color. I get people in traffic chasing me to the traffic light then, asking me what color my car is and telling me how gorgeous my car is all the time. This color is one of the prettiest Porsche colors I have ever seen. The compliments never stop coming.
I just picked up a Carmon 997S coupe last Saturday. It IS a beautiful color, especially in the sunlight. It's one of those paint colors that changes its shade depending on light conditions. It acts like a pearl, even though it is called a metallic.

There IS Pearl in this paint color. The pearl gives the color it's "Flip Flop" color effect.
I think the OP was talking about Carmine red which does look similar to Guards red, but a little less orange. I prefer it to Guards red. I don’t much like Carmon as it looks maroon to me, and I’m not a fan of maroon.
I remember an epic "yellow" argument/discussion here on the various yellows (racing, speed, and signal) that sent me to Rennbow for the first time. After careful review, I decided they were all extremely great colors on the Carrera.
